Best Sunrise Alarm Clocks of 2024: The Scientific List!

Best Sunrise Alarm Clocks of 2024: The Scientific List!

We bought the most popular sunrise alarm clocks and tested them with our lab-grade spectrometer! In this article, we’ll deeply dive into the data, features, and my thoughts on the best ones. The Sunrise Alarm Clocks We’ve tested the Hatch Restore 2, all four Lumie Bodyclocks, the three Philips SmartSleep lamps, Casper Glow, the Loftie Lamp, and the new Philips Hue Twilight. For this review, we also bought some cheaper Amazon budget lamps to try out. A couple of notable options have been discontinued, namely the Philips SmartSleep HF3670 and the Hatch Restore 1, so we left those out. Here are my recommendations, but read on to find out why! Testing the Sunrises Before we get into what features set these lamps apart let’s go…

Scientific Review: Loftie Smart Clock + Sunrise Lamp

Scientific Review: Loftie Smart Clock + Sunrise Lamp

I’ve used the Loftie clock + lamp combo for a little while and tested their brightness, blue light, sunrise effects, flicker, and more! Let’s jump into it and see what these devices have to offer! The Overview Loftie’s two-phase alarm didn’t work for me, but if you like having an audible alarm, Loftie is worth trying. The white noise and sleep sounds are great, and I appreciated the portability and battery power. The personalized AI stories are neat but I’m not sure if they’re worth subscribing to Loftie+ for. If you like the Loftie Clock, the Lamp is a great companion with its red light mode and dimming. But if you’re mainly interested in a sunrise effect, there are better options out there. Loftie Clock…

Scientific Review: Lumie BodyClock Sunrise Alarm Clocks

Scientific Review: Lumie BodyClock Sunrise Alarm Clocks

I’ve tested and used all 4 of the Lumie Bodyclocks currently available in the US! In this article, we’ll compare these 4 models so you’ll know exactly which one fits your requirements! The Overview The Shine 300 is the brightest but suffers from flicker and a poor user interface. If those aren’t dealbreakers, it’s a good choice. The Rise 100 and Glow 150 are simple to use but lack brightness flexibility and the need to manually re-enable the alarm daily is annoying. The Glow 150 offers more sunrise customization (20-45 minutes) compared to the Rise 100’s fixed 30 minutes. Additionally, the Rise 100 only has a beeping alarm, unlike the others, which include nature sounds. The Luxe 700FM offers better performance than the Rise and…

Scientific Review: Hatch Restore 2 & 3 Sunrise Alarm Clock

Scientific Review: Hatch Restore 2 & 3 Sunrise Alarm Clock

When I wind down at night, I sleep better, But I often forget to, I get stressed about tomorrow, and end up sleeping worse because of it. The Hatch Restore has a ton of features that completely solve these issues. In this review, we’ll be reviewing version 2 of the Restore as well as the new 3rd update. We’ll also test their total brightness, lux, sunrise curves, and much more! The Overview This is hands down the best bedtime ritual/wind-down machine on the planet. I was super impressed with the app’s polish and ease of use. The sunrise effect and adjustability are also pretty decent and bright enough to be effective. If you’d like a sunrise alarm clock but also love the idea of improving…

Scientific Review: Philips SmartSleep Sunrise Alarm Clocks

Maybe you’re unsure which SmartSleep lamp to buy, the HF3500, HF3520, or HF3650? In this article, we’ll scientifically test and compare these 3 SmartSleep models so you’ll know exactly which fits your requirements! The “smart” SmartSleep a.k.a the HF3670 has been discontinued, so we’ve excluded it from this test. The Overview All of these offer effective sunrise light output. The 3500 is the only one with good flicker, while the 3520 and 3650 have custom sunrise duration settings. If you’re looking for the brightest one, get the 3650. Its menu system can be confusing, so if that’s a turn-off and you’re still looking for the next brightest, it’s the 3520. And while the 3500 is the budget option, you cannot turn off the alarm beep….

Scientific Review: Philips Hue Twilight Sunrise Alarm Clock

Scientific Review: Philips Hue Twilight Sunrise Alarm Clock

We just got our hands on the Twilight, Hue’s new solution to a bedroom sunrise/sunset simulator. In this article, we’ll review our testing results and my opinions after using it for a while. The Overview This is a very good, pricey, sunrise simulator. The down-firing LEDs are unique among the sunrise lamp category, making this more potentially effective than others. Couple that with its myriad of customizations and this is a good sunrise option for anyone with the money and comfort with smart devices in the bedroom. Pros Cons Introducing the Hue Twilight The design is a little phallic… although I like it (not because it’s phallic mind you). The Twilight features an unusual down-firing lamp for its main sunrise effect. We’ll go over this…

Scientific Review: Casper Glow Sunrise Alarm Clock

Scientific Review: Casper Glow Sunrise Alarm Clock

I’ve used the Casper Glow for a little while now and put it through our usual battery of tests! Let’s jump right in and see if this is the lamp for you or if there are better options out there… The Overview Very small, portable, and simple. Not as bright as I’d like. A great option for anyone who wants a travel-friendly sunrise alarm clock or is short on space. Had some issues with buggy operation here and there, and the Android app seems like a crapshoot. Overall it’s okay, but could be much better. Pros Cons What is the Casper Glow? The Casper Glow is a small sunrise alarm clock that can also function as a portable night light and even has a simple…

Intake Breathing Review: The Best Nasal Dilator Around!

Intake Breathing Review: The Best Nasal Dilator Around!

This genius invention has forever changed the way that I breathe… At a Glance The Intake uses a magnetic mounting system to open the nostrils wider than any other dilator is able to, while actually being the most comfortable option around. Since it’s solid, the noseband pulls from the sides, not the middle like strips do, preventing any pain or bruising across the nose. Pros Cons The Intake Breathing Kit The Intake is a brand-new nasal dilator that promises to solve all of the problems every dilator before it had. What sets apart the Intake is its patented magnet mounting system. By using magnets to attach to the nostrils, the Intake can reduce nasal airflow resistance far more than every other dilator out there, while…
